“Rock ‘n roll is here to stay, it will never die“, at least that’s what Danny & The Juniors sang back in 1958 and they were right. Greats like Aerosmith, Guns and Roses, The Who, Queen, The Animals and The Beatles, to name just a handful, have been immortalized as trailblazers in the rock music niche.
One of the facets of rock music that I enjoy the most is actually the fact that it has loaned itself to be a part of many social and cultural movements. Rock music is often associated with protests and political activism; during the Vietnam era, these were the hymns of the hippie counterculture. It’s an action-and-reaction type of music. When British troops killed innocent people in Derry, Ireland (1972), also known as Bloody Sunday, rock giant U2 recorded Sunday Bloody Sunday as a means of protest and awareness.
